SUMMARY:

Though not currently showing on the DVLA’s system, hand written notes on file suggest the Jaguar was 1st Registered on 3rd May 1967 and that at some stage the vendor had its “Original Logbook”, though unfortunately this has yet to be tracked down. UPDATE: WE HAVE NOW LOCATED A CERTIFIED COPY OF THE ORIGINAL 'BUFF' LOG BOOK SO REGISTERING THE 420 WITH ITS ORIGINAL NUMBER SHOULD BE SOMEWHAT EASIER.

The engine and automatic gearbox have been removed and at this stage they can not be located. However, there is a later fuel injected Jaguar straight six engine with the 420 so an albeit ambitious “resto-mod” could be an option. We are currently trying to track down the off side front wheel which may well be not too far away. NB We have now fitted the spare wheel and the front bumper has been found; please see photo gallery. There are a number of spare parts and removed items in the boot of the car.

Having been stored well off the ground on bricks, the Jaguar appears to be remarkably solid underneath and the rear bodywork has survived rather better than the slightly frayed front end.

The lovely interior, complete with period radio, is in pretty good shape; the leather seems to require just a good clean and feed while the wood door trims and dashboard seem sound but could be candidates for stripping back and refinishing.
