Selling

Consign your car with us and we will:

  • Visit you at your convenience to discuss, photograph and catalogue your car.
  • Present it beautifully and market it relentlessly via our website and a wide selection of online, print and social media.
  • Put you and your partner up at the auction venue free of charge if you choose to stay for the event
  • Charge you absolutely nothing, other than your entry fee – the full bid price goes entirely to you.

Sell through Berlinetta

Research indicates that potential buyers withhold a percentage of their budget when bidding to cover against potential hidden faults that they have no way of identifying when buying at conventional auctions.

By allowing them to properly inspect your car and even be taken for a test drive before bidding, we remove this element of doubt so they can bid in confidence - and bid in full.

Your involvement

We ask (but don’t insist) that you make yourself available personally to demonstrate your car to potential buyers – because after all, who knows a car better than it’s owner? If however you’d rather not be involved in this process then no problem, we can provide one of our staff to cover this for you.

Bring a friend

We hope you’ll be able to bring your partner with you for the weekend. In anticipation of this we’ve laid on spa services at the hotel - or for the more energetic, a personal trainer will be available to book. There’s also a pool, tennis court and croquet lawn to be enjoyed, or the delights of Bicester village shopping outlet which is less then 10 minutes away.. Alternatively, your other half can simply kick back and enjoy the Sunday papers whilst you’re out droning on about sprockets and gudgeon pins.

Fees

We charge a £150 consignment fee (plus VAT).

Your hotel bill (B&B) will be covered, but other expenditure at the hotel will be on your own account – so please bear that in mind before attempting to empty the hotel's cellars!

The sale schedule

We ask that you deliver your car to the Manor Hotel fully prepared for the sale. You can arrive at any point to suit you on the Saturday before the Sunday of the sale. There is a professional car valeting service available on site if you require help to bring your car back to it's best after its journey, c/o The Classic Project Shop. Their team can also be booked to iron out any last minute mechanical gremlins.

Once your car is delivered safely we'd encourage you to check in at the hotel if you are staying, and relax. There is a drinks reception for all sellers and their partners on the South Lawn of the Manor at 6pm.

During the auction our staff will be on hand to demonstrate and field enquiries about your car from the public at any time that you're not available to do so in person, so there's no need to be by your car for the entire sale period.

The auction

The auction will go live at 9am on the Sunday and potential buyers will be able to bid on your car from that point on, via their laptops, tablets, phones, or bidding stations set up in our offices within the hotel.

Proceedings will close from 5pm that evening with 2 minute intervals between lots. This is to allow a potential buyer who has perhaps missed out on an earlier lot the ability to bid on something else.

Post sale

The way the buyer chooses to pay for your car impacts on how long it takes the funds to reach us - it can be a matter of hours, but it can also take up to three working days. Either way, as soon as the funds have cleared into our account we will forward them to you immediately; we make our living from selling cars, not from interest accrued whilst holding onto other people's money.

Please don't hesitate to call us to discuss your car, or simply kick things off by filling in the brief sellers registration form here.
